How does it feel like? To imagine things that don't really exist. To invent meanings that were not really meant. To create emotions that shouldn't be felt. To create scenarios, that shouldn't be happening...
Let me tell you, it's excruciating. Nakakapagod, Nakakaloka!
It's like... painting on a piece of white canvass but all that you do is make it worse every single time you paint over it. Then after you're done and all the paint that you have is gone, you want the white canvass back. A waste of resources.
Like... wanting to go somewhere but what you did is run on a treadmill for long hours. You're getting nowhere but there. A waste of time.
Like... preparing a meal, google-ing for the recipe, going to the supermarket, slicing the ingredients, cooking, etc. without realizing that you've been invited to a gathering on that day, the next day, and on the day after the other. A waste of energy.
Sayang.
Same goes with overthinking, you're wasting resources, time, and energy on the things that doesn't even exist. Ni walang kamalay-malay yung mga tao sa paligid mo na kung san san ka na nakarating at ang malikot mong isip. And mind you, things that we overthink are oftentimes negative. "Bakit ako iniiwasan ng kaibigan ko? Bakit nya sinabi 'to? Kasi ganito ako... ganyan..." Then why on Earth are we overthinking?!
Women, are naturally born over-thinkers. In my 23 years on Earth, I've just known, and it's becoming more and more evident to me, that I'm a woman, after-all. I often make stories to myself on how and why people act the way they do around me... And most of the time, end results are me being sad. Why? Because it always leads me to think that there's something wrong with me. Which is true... nobody's perfect, pero di ko dapat sinasampal 'yung sarili mo sa katotohanang 'to.
Most of the times, we make our own ghosts. Overthinking started with me, and it ends with me. Which reminds me of something I've read somewhere... "The first rule of happiness? Don't think of what others think of you, that's their business."
So chill out, enjoy life.. Instead of spending all your resources, time and energy on the things that will make you feel bad about other people and less of yourself, why not dwell on the good things? Enjoy the tiny little things that the Lord is giving you everyday. The air that you breathe, the sun, the trees, the food that you eat, your family, friends, everything that you have. In one way or another, they are blessing you bountifully.
Masaya magover-think... Kung ang iniisip mo eh mga magagandang bagay.
Overthink blessings, what you have now and how lucky you are to have those. Overthink of your dreams, be inspired, plan, think on how you can achieve them... Overthink of your inspirations, those people who make you strive to do better. Be like them. Overthink of your crush... Malay mo maging crush ka nya bigla. Hihi.
So to all of you my fellow over-thinkers.... Tigilan na natin'to, di nakakaganda! Haha.
This post is dedicated to one of my bestfriends, Mina, who is an overthinker as well.
One of my broken promises.... Better late than never.
